On a Curly day what’s your process?
Everyday is a curly day! When I am taming my mane I wash with a cleansing cream and a deep conditioner.I try not to revolve my life around my hair because it will always do what it wants and I cannot change that. On a normal day I take my hair out of my silk pineapple wrap and fluff it. I love big hair so I’ll use my Afro pick to give it volume!
Are you always worried about in having your curls in perfect shape, or are you more of an apologist of the “let it be”?
I love defined curls but I won’t invest so much time into getting them because I feel like I’m changing my hair to make it something it isn’t. I always say Let it Fro!
You made resolutions for your hair this year? (does anyone do?)
I made a resolution to experiment more with my hair. Whether this is with braids, colour or straightening! I have been heat free for almost 2 years now and I want to have some fun with my hair, the ‘fro can get a little boring sometimes!
What were the worst mistakes you made? What advice would you give to anyone who wants to venture out to take of their curls?
If you want to big chop, do it. It is so liberating! Especially because I was young in comparison to most people who big chop so I had to go through my teen years with a small ‘fro and it really built my confidence. I wouldn’t call them mistakes as such because I learnt from them but being heat free was something I wish I did from the very beginning.
Wear natural hair describes the person you are now? Was there a moment in your life that you though you should give up?
In the early days of having my hair short and small, I wanted to give up but it was just the start of my journey. I am so glad I did it. It has been an amazing experience!
One product that you can’t live without?
I can’t live without my Afro pick! There is no product that can give me the volume which it gives me.
